Lily Intelligence: a Startling Lesson for Man

“The lily has intelligence enough to start itself out of the seed when put in the ground and called upon by the to do so, as a man or a woman has the same intelligence (or should have) to go out in the sun on a pleasant day, and absorb the life and power sent in by the sun. Those who do not, who remain five-sixths of the time indoors, are, as a result, weak and bleached like potato-vines growing in a cellar. The lily has also sense enough to grow in the sun. It you put it in a room, it will grow toward that part of the room where the light enters. That is simply because it wants the light: it knows it needs it, and goes after what it needs, because it knows, or rather feels, that the light is good for it. …

“Where the lily gets ahead of us with its limited life and intelligence is that it does not concern itself or worry about the morrow. It toils not. It takes on water, air, sunshine, and whatever of the elements are in these, just what it needs for the minute, the hour, or the day, just so much and no more. …

“If the lily, with its limited intelligence, worried and fretted for fear the sun might not shine tomorrow, or that there might be no water, or money in the house, or potatoes in the cellar, it would surely become a cast-down, forlorn looking flower.” ~Prentice Mulford

Lily in the Ground

By an interesting coincidence (syncronicity?), I came across the above quote a day after planting some tulips and lilies in my yard. When you plant these bulbs, the instructions always tell you to plant then root down and bud up. This is always best, of course. But have you wondered what would happen if you ignore it and planted then upside down, or if one just flipped over while you were covering it with soil? The answer is that it would probably grow just fine. The roots would go down, not up. The stem would curve and grow up toward the sun. You may not think of that as intelligence, but it is. Lily intelligence may be severely limited intelligence, but it is intelligence nevertheless.

Lily Intelligence for Growing

Most lilies are summer-blooming. They do not grow in the winter, not if you live anywhere that gets below freezing in the winter. Yet we don’t plant them in the spring. Though several centuries of observing results, experts have learned, and therefore advise us, to plant these bulbs in the fall rather than waiting until spring. You can plant them in the spring, but they do better when planted in the fall. But here is the evidence of their limited intelligence. If you plant them in the spring, they will come up in a week or two. If you plant them in the fall, they won’t come up until spring. The temperature is not the main factor in this. It is the short days, the shortage of sunlight, that prevents them from growing in the winter. Yet something does happen in the winter as they do grow best when planted in autumn. I tried doing some online research to find out why summer bulbs like lilies should be planted in the fall, I can find nothing specific. If you know the answer, feel free to comment. Comprehend Light and Let it Awaken You

“If you wish to comprehend light, walk where light walks. Does light enter only royal palaces? It enters into clean and unclean places. Light does not stop at anything – it penetrates into the most hidden places to enlighten and enliven them. This is great humility. Man should learn humility from light.

“Get up early! Go out! Greet the sun! What wonderful things are hidden with the rising sun! If one goes out regularly in the morning, he will receive inspiration.

“In order to get healed, the sick one should purify his blood. He should undertake this work himself. How? By breathing pure air, exposing his back to the Sun, and eating pure and healthy food.

“In the morning there is always more prana, or vital energy, then at noon.” ~Biensa Douno

Comprehend Light

We do need to comprehend light. The first thing we need to understand is that not all light is the same. For our purposes, we can thing of light as being of two kinds. There is physical light that is produced by physical things like the sun, the stars, or even fireflies. There is also spiritual light which originates only with God. It comes to us, however, through the spiritual Sun.

The best way to comprehend light is to pay attention to it. That means watching the sunrise of both the physical and spiritual suns. Technically, the spiritual sun never rises or sets, but because most of us think of spirits as being attached to their physical counterpart, we should look for the spiritual sun within the physical.

Where Light Goes

Light does go everywhere. It goes into happy places and sad places. It enters rich countries and poor countries. Religious beliefs doesn’t stop it from entering anyone’s house. The light of the physical sun helps weeds grow just as much as flowers and grains.

But you can put a box over the flowers and block the light. The plants will shrivel and die. Blocking darkness has no such effect. In fact, you don’t really block darkness. Darkness is pushed out by the light.

Spiritual light doesn’t work quite the same way, however. Yes, it too goes virtually everywhere. But if you are not attuned to it, it goes right through you with no effect. It is as if you are not even there. It’s like an FM radio signal hitting an old AM radio. The waves hit the radio but have no effect on it. Fortunately, while most of us don’t intentionally attune ourselves to the spiritual light, it happens occasionally anyway for brief moments. Then we will be affected.

Greet the Sun

The best way to make sure that we take in that spiritual light is to, as Douno recommends, go out and greet the sun. Don’t just be in the sun and don’t stare at the sun. In order to truly “greet the sun,” you have to view the sunrise with a positive and loving attitude. Never do sun-gazing when angry, upset, or depressed. The physical sun will just amplify those feelings. Wait until you are in a more positive mood, then you will take in light from the spiritual sun as well as the physical. You will also fill that light with those positive thoughts making you healthier on both a physical and spiritual level.

Purify

I’m not sure that one can truly purify the blood by the methods Douno recommends. There is no doubt, however, that eating healthy food (organic), exercising, and deep breathing will improve our health. Most of all, getting light from both the physical and spiritual suns will improve our health on several levels. But we still need to eat sensible and live a sensible lifestyle.

Dark Light, Light, and Light of Life

“The first principle (the Darkness) takes the fierce and sudden fire-flash. … The second principle retains its Light for itself, which is the pleasant habitation which shines where the darkness is dispelled. …

“And the third principle retains its Light wholly for itself, which (as soon as the Light of Life springs up) presses into the tincture of the Soul,to the Element, and reaches after the Element; but it attains no more than to the Light of the Sun, which is proceeded out of the Quinta Essentia out of the Element. And thus the Stars and Elements rule in their light and virtue, which is the Suns.” ~Jacob Boehme

Three Principles of Light

Jacob Boehme informs us that there are three “principles” of light. I find it interesting that he doesn’t even refer to the very dim light on the material level as light at all, but instead calls it fire-flash. The second level is an intermediate light that might be considered as between material and spiritual. The third and highest light is purely spiritual.

Fire-Flash

The fire flash is the dimmest form of light, the lowest in frequency. It is probably this light which forms the Great Illusion we call the material universe. While it is the dimmest light, it has fooled many into thinking it is the true light of God. Continue reading “Dark Light, Light, and Light of Life”

Beneficial Sunrise Full of Love

“To meet the sunrise is always beneficial, even when the Sun is covered in clouds—because the Sun’s energy permeates the clouds. In all cases, the sunrise brings an elevation in man.

“In spring and in summer from 22nd March each year it is recommendable for man to go early to bed and to rise early to welcome the sunrise and accept his part from it—like the bees gather the nectar from the flowers. One should try this for a series of years in order to become convinced of the truth of it.

“As we expose ourselves to the Sun, so must we live in the Divine Love. … The solar rays, absorbed with love, are most beneficial to the body. They act soothingly upon the soul and refreshingly upon the spirit.” ~Biensa Douno

Beneficial Sunrise

The light of the sun is always beneficial, but is especially so at sunrise. That is because at sunrise it has more of the frequencies that stimulate spiritual growth (specifically, ultra-violet) and less of the one that encourage further sinking into matter. An exception would be for those who have already become so spiritual that their roots in the material world are weak. Those people should take the sun at sunset instead.

A beneficial sunrise isn’t some special event that happens only occasionally. Any sunrise can be beneficial if you view it with the right mental attitude. As Douno says, even when it is cloudy, there is a benefit in viewing the sunrise. It may even be better for some to view it at those times. That is because clouds can block some of the light from the physical sun, but not the light of the spiritual Sun. It is the light of the spiritual Sun that is the true beneficial sunrise.

Never stare directly at the sun. That will also make it less beneficial and can cause serious eye damage. Keep your eyes half shut and look to one side or the other. Better yet, alternate. Look to the left of the sun for several seconds, then to the right, then above, then below.

For a Series of Years

Douno says that one should try these solar techniques for “a series of years” to find out if they really work. Few people are willing to do that these days. The good news is you don’t need years to feel the changes that tell you intuitively that it is working for you. Usually in just a few weeks you will start noticing some effects from the beneficial sunrise. How will vary from one person to the next. You may notice that you are having more vivid dreams and understanding them better. You may find yourself being more creative in your work and in solving problems. Tolerance, love, and generosity will grow in you. It may take years to fully awaken, but not to begin to notice beneficial changes. Continue reading “Beneficial Sunrise Full of Love”
