The Holy are Happy and Peaceful

“The holy are happy. Who but they alone will wear joy? The elect wear grace. And who will be arrayed in grace but those who from the beginning have believed? The elect wear love. And who will be arrayed in love but those who from the beginning have believed? Walk in the knowledge of the lord, and you will know the grace of the lord of generosity, his exultation, and the perfection of his gnosis. His thought was a letter, and his will descended from the skies, shot like an arrow violently released from its bow. Many hands rushed to the letter to catch it, take it, and read it, yet it slipped from their fingers, and they were terrified of it and its seal. They couldn’t loosen the seal, for the power of the seal was greater than they. Others saw the letter and chased it, wondering where it would land and who might read it, who might hear it.” ~Odes of Solomon

The Holy are Happy

There are many kinds of happiness in this world. There are many things that can make us happy. Getting a new job can make us happy. Falling in love makes us happy. Winning the lottery makes us happy, etc. But much of that happiness is temporary and often illusion. We are told by others that we all need to have a job in the materialistic world, so we should be happy when we get one. Because everyone tells us that, especially the leaders (manipulators), we believe it and make it true. But after we get that job, we find that the work is harder than we expected it to be, we have to put up with working with difficult individuals, and we don’t feel like we are really accomplishing anything. The happiness doesn’t last. The same is true of those other types of happiness mentioned. But the Odes say the holy are happy, and that is true. More importantly, the holy are happy for reasons that cannot be taken away from them and are not illusions. They are happy because they have seen beyond the veil, the Great Illusion. Once that happens, reality can never be successfully hidden from them again. A wonderful reason to be happy. The holy are happy because they have awakened their spirit and soul. That reason for being happy can also never be taken from them. Most of all, the holy are happy because they have reestablished the link between their soul and God and understand the reality of God and the universe. righteous man

Righteous Man Wears the Crown of Light

“Then shall the righteous man stand in great boldness before the face of such as have afflicted him, and made no account of his labors. When they see it, they shall be troubled with terrible fear, and shall be amazed at the strangeness of his salvation, so far beyond all that they looked for. And they repenting and groaning for anguish of spirit shall say within themselves, This was he, whom we had sometimes in derision, and a proverb of reproach: We fools accounted his life madness, and his end to be without honor: How is he numbered among the children of God, and his lot is among the saints! … What hath pride profited us? or what good hath riches with our vaunting brought us? All those things are passed away like a shadow, and as a post that hasted by. … Even so we in like manner, as soon as we were born, began to draw to our end, and had no sign of virtue to shew; but were consumed in our own wickedness. For the hope of the ungodly is like dust that is blown away with the wind; … like as the smoke which is dispersed here and there with a tempest, and passeth away as the remembrance of a guest that tarrieth but a day. But the righteous live for evermore; their reward also is with the Lord, and the care of them is with the most High. Therefore shall they receive a glorious kingdom, and a beautiful crown from the Lord’s hand: for with his right hand shall he cover them, and with his arm shall he protect them. … Thus iniquity shall lay waste the whole earth, and ill dealing shall overthrow the thrones of the mighty.” ~The Wisdom Of Solomon

Righteous Man

There are many different ideas of what a righteous person is. Most would say that it is someone who faithfully follows the rules of the church they belong to. But in the Book of Wisdom, it is a more universal and accurate thing. In this quote, it means one who faithfully follows the Way of God and the Laws of God, even when it is not popular to do so. That means following the actual Law of God, not some minister’s opinion of it.

Troubled with Fear

Why should others be troubled when they see that a righteous man has awakened and achieved salvation? Because it shows that their idea of the path to salvation is a false one. It shows that there is a true Way of God and variations created by man do not lead to real salvation.

Another reason might be that some people, specifically false priests, and government officials, don’t want people to have a true spiritual awakening. They like people to remain like sheep who can be easily manipulated, easily controlled. This is why false paths based on fear are often promoted by those authorities. Attributes of a Holy Child

Holy Child

“How am I astonished that there is laid before me a Child, older than all things! His eye is gazing unceasingly upon Heaven. As for the stammering of His mouth, to my seeming, it betokens that with God in silence speaks.
“Who ever saw a Child the whole of Whom beholdeth every place? His look is like one that orders all creatures that are above and that are below! His visage is like that Commander that commandeth all. … How shall I give nourishment to thee that nourishes all from thy table? How shall I bring to swaddling clothes One wrapped round with rays of glory? … With Thee I will flee, that I may gain in Thee Life in every place.” ~St. Ephraim the Syrian

Is this some kind of riddle? A baby older than all things? No, not a riddle but a statement of fact. This Holy Child is one who has his spirit and soul awake and since the spirit and soul are immortal, to look into the eyes of this Child is to look into infinity, to look into truth.

A Holy Child can speak with words, but more often “speaks” with just a glance, for like His Father, he speaks in silence, He speaks in symbols, He speaks in Light. And He speaks to all who will truly listen, but has no time to waste on those who do not wish to listen, who do not want to do their part, who want it all handed to them and don’t want to work for it. The Holy Spirit

“Only the Holy Spirit can purify the intellect, for unless a greater power comes and overthrows the despoiler, what he has taken captive will never be set free (cf. Luke 11:21-22). In every way, therefore, and especially through peace of soul, we must make ourselves a dwelling-place for the Holy Spirit. Then we shall have the lamp of spiritual knowledge burning always within us; and when it is shining constantly in the inner shrine of the soul, not only will the intellect perceive all the dark and bitter attacks of the demons, but these attacks will be greatly weakened when exposed for what they are by the glorious and holy light.” ~The Philokalia

Holy-Spirit-in-blueAnother way to put it would be that only the fully awakened soul can truly guide us toward God and heaven and a truly spiritual life. We can intellectualize all we want about the need to control the ego and keep it from pushing us into totally materialistic behavior, but controlling that ego isn’t that easy.

A few years ago, I attended a Psych-k weekend workshop where we learned how to get rid of phobias and bad habits. The method commonly used in psychiatry is to try to dig down deep into the subconscious and find the root cause, then try to use reason to show why the deep belief is false. This process can take several years, when it works at all. With Psych-k, you don’t try to dig out the root belief, you simply replace it with a positive one. Some laugh at the approach, but it seems to work for many people, including myself.

So following the same idea, you can’t just suppress the ego unless you have something to substitute for it, something to control it and keep it from running your life. That something is the awakened soul. Which, of course, means that you must work on awakening the soul in order to completely keep the ego under control.

I like the part of the quote that says the soul full of Light will perceive the dark attacks of demons and therefore be able to defend themselves against such attacks. It is true that a spiritually developed person has greater knowledge and is harder to fool than those who remain unawakened, but sadly I have known people who have spent quite a few years in spiritual developed only to be pulled away from it by the trickery of demons, so we must always be on guard. And carry gems and crystals programmed to help protect us from such attacks.
