Great Angel from God

The Great Angel

“Now, as for that angel, I cannot speak of his power. His appearance is like fine gold and his raiment is like snow. No, truly, my mouth cannot bear to speak of his power and the appearance of his face. Eleleth, the great angel, spoke to me. “It is I,” he said, “who am understanding. I am one of the four luminaries who stand in the presence of the great invisible spirit. Do you think these rulers have any power over you? None of them can prevail against the root of truth, for on its account he has appeared in the final ages, and these authorities will be restrained. And these authorities cannot defile you and that race, for your abode is in incorruptibility, where the virgin spirit lives, who is superior to the authorities of chaos and to their universe.” But I said, “Sir, teach me about these authorities. How did they come into being? By what genesis, and out of what material, and who created them and their power?” The great angel Eleleth, understanding, spoke to me: “Incorruptibility inhabits limitless realms. Sophia, who is called Pistis, wanted to create something, alone, without her partner, and what she created was celestial. “A veil exists between the world above and the realms below, and shadow came into being beneath the veil. That shadow became matter, and that shadow was projected apart. And what she had created came to be in matter, like an aborted fetus. It assumed a shape molded out of shadow, and became an arrogant beast resembling a lion. It was androgynous, as I have already said, because it derived from matter.” ~The Reality of the Rulers

The Appearance of the Great Angel

The short Gnostic scripture known as The Reality of the Rulers says the appearance of this great angel named Eleleth is “like fine gold and his raiment is like snow.” In other words, the angel looked like he was made of fine gold and was dressed in the purest white. This matches closely the description by Gene Savoy, Sr. of the angel that visited him as looking like gold that had been heated until it was white-hot, and with eyes that looked like glowing diamonds. It is probably how all angels look. They are not just people with wings on their backs. Continue reading “Great Angel from God”

the source

The Source of Inspiration

“The Spiritual Mind is the source of the ‘inspiration’ which certain poets, painters, sculptors, writers, preachers, orators, and others have received in all times and which they receive today. This is the source from which the seer obtains his vision, the prophet his foresight. Many have concentrated themselves upon high ideals in their work, and have received rare knowledge from this source, and have attributed it to beings of another world – from angels, spirits, from God Himself; but all came from within – it was the voice of their Higher Self speaking to them. We do not mean to say that no communications come to man from other intelligences – far from this, we know that higher intelligences do often communicate with man through the channel of his Spiritual Mind – but much that man has attributed to outside intelligences has really come from himself. And man, by the development of his Spiritual Consciousness, may bring himself into a high relationship and contact with this higher part of his nature, and may thus become possessed of a knowledge of which the intellect has not dared dream.” ~William Walker Atkinson

The Source of Inspiration

Whether you call in inspiration, insight, intuition, or a muse, the source, directly or indirectly, is what Atkinson calls the Spiritual Mind, more correctly called the Divine Soul. It is true that this Spiritual Mind is the source of inspiration to many great artists including painters, writers, and musicians. But as Atkinson himself admits, sometimes that knowledge does come to us from higher beings through the soul.

Ours or Theirs?

Atkinson seems to be determined to convince us that most inspiration is from our own Spiritual Mind (or Soul), not from other beings. But what he apparently doesn’t get is that there really is no difference, no conflict at all. On a spiritual level – and the Soul is definitely spiritual – all is part of the One, and the One is the source of all knowledge and truth. So it isn’t ours or theirs, but both since we are part of the One. Continue reading “The Source of Inspiration”

angels are spirits

Angels are Spirits, Not Physical Beings

Angels are Spirits

“Roman Catholic doctrine, as set forth by Saint Thomas Aquinas, argues for the necessity of Angels. God dd not have to create, but once He had done so, out of His goodness, then Angels had to be part of the creation, for God desires, up to a point, that his creatures should imitate him. Saint Thomas, with customary brilliance, asserts that since God is Himself a pure intelligence, then he must create pure intelligences in the Angels, since they alone can properly imitate God. Humans, in contrast, can only imitate God in a more limited way. ‘Pure,’ for Saint Thomas, is a synonym for spirit: God and the Angels alike are free from matter. Here Saint Thomas, though not a party of one, does not necessarily speak for the Church, since other great Theologians (Saint Bernard and Saint Bonaventure) have insisted that only God is beyond materiality. And indeed one remembers the Angels of Enoch begetting giants upon the daughters of men, and Raphael in the Book of Tobias speaking of his food and drink, and one recalls all of the imagery of fire that pervades descriptions of Angels. Much of the tradition is vert different from Saint Thomas, yet it is difficult not to be moved by his passion and his insight when he urges us to consider the Angels as pure spirits, as intelligences uncontaminated by bodily drives.God, according to Saint Thomas, made the Angels for the sake of His own glory, and the glory of God is beyond Matter.” ~Harold Bloom

Which Came First

Did God create the Angels before he created Man? That is a difficult question to answer. If we accept the view of Saint Thomas Aquinas that Angels are pure spirit, not a bit of matter in them, then angels exist outside of time and space just as all spirits do. Being outside the limits of space and time, they were never born, they will never grow old, and they will never die. So they clearly existed before physical man since physical man exists within the boundaries of space and time. But Man also has a spirit and soul, and our spirits and souls are just as pure as that of the Angels. So the point is really a mute one. Man, as a physical being, came along after the Angels, but Man as a spiritual being is just as ageless and immortal as they are.

Pure Intelligence

In a way it is correct to say that God is “Pure Intelligence,” but in Cosolargy, we would prefer to say that God is pure Consciousness. Intelligence is too easily confused with the matter-oriented intellect of the brain-mind, and that isn’t God at all. God is Spiritual Intelligence or Spiritual Consciousness. And since Angels are spirits created by God, they are also pure consciousness. They do have a body of sorts, but t is spirit, ot matter. Such a body is just as much pure consciousness as the spiritual mind of those beings. Angels are Spirits, Angel minds are spirit, Angel bodies are Spirit.

Angels of Enoch

The Angels of Enoch, Bloom notes, are said to have mated with the daughters of men resulting in giants. This is not a contradiction of the idea that Angels are pure spirits. The ones who mated with human women were fallen angels, and this may have made them partly material. Spirit can be changed into matter and matter changed into spirit just as matter can be changed into energy and energy become matter. In fact, much of the sighting of strange objects labeled UFOs are actually a transition stage between spirit and matter. They are seen during periods of great change when more spirit is being degraded into matter (a process that will eventually be reversed).

Raphael in the Book of Tobias

Mr. Bloom seems to be saying that this book indicates that the angel Raphael ate physical food and drink, and therefore cannot be pure spirit. But read the quote below carefully.

“12:15 I am Raphael, one of the seven holy Angels, which present the

prayers of the saints, and which go in and out before the glory of the Holy

One. …

12:19 All these days I did appear unto you; but I did neither eat nor

drink, but ye did see a vision.” ~Book of Tobias

It is clear to me, from what is said in 12:19, that Raphael did not actually eat and drink, but only appeared to do so when he was pretending to be an ordinary human. When he says that the observers “dis see a vision,” he means that he caused them to see a vision of him eating and drinking, but he did not actually do so. As the previous part of the line states, “I did neither eat nor drink”. So no contradiction here and the Angels are spirits, here as with Thomas Aquinas.

invisible beings

Invisible Beings of Spirit and Truth

“It is worthy of notice that, while rejecting as a superstition of Occultism, and religion too, the theory of substantial and invisible beings called Angels, Elementals, etc. – without, or course, having ever looked into the philosophy of these incorporeal entities, owing to observation and discovery, should have unconsciously been forced to adopt and recognize the same ratio of progression and order in the evolution of chemical atoms as occultism does. … Let it be remembered that Fire, Water, and Air, or the ‘elements of primary Creation’ so-called, are not the compound elements they are on Earth, but noumenal homogeneous Elements – the Spirits thereof. Then follow the septenary groups or hosts. Placed on parallel lines in a diagram with atoms, the natures of those beings would be seen to correspond in their downward scale of progression to composite elements in a mathematically identical manner, as to analogy. This refers only to diagrams made by the Occultists; for were the scale of Angelic Beings to be placed on a parallel line with the scale of the chemical atoms of Science – from the hypothetical helium down to uranium – they would of course be found to differ. …

“In esoteric philosophy, every physical particle corresponds to and depends on its higher neumenon – the Being to whose essence it belongs; and above as below, the Spiritual evolves from the Divine, the psycho-mental from the spiritual.” ~H. P. Blavatsky

Invisible Beings

There are even today many who still can’t accept that there could be invisible beings. Yet it is not so strange as it sounds. Even if we look just on the physical level, we find some exotic fish, squid, and other sea creatures that are almost completely transparent. They may not be totally invisible, but they are difficult to see if you are not looking for them.

That last sentence may be key to it more than anything else. There are so many things around us to see, even just on the level of matter, that it is impossible to “see” all of them. That is because seeing a thing involves the mind as much as the eyes. Your eyes may see something, but if your mind doesn’t care, or doesn’t believe in it, it doesn’t register on your conscious mind.

If you are interested in art, but not in flowers, and you walk through a garden that is full of artworks, you might be able to answer many questions about what artworks you saw, but couldn’t answer a single one about the flowers. So to you, the flowers are invisible.

But beyond that type of invisible beings are those that are invisible because they are not material. Spiritual beings cannot be seen by the physical eyes unless they wish to make themselves visible. Even then, you are probably not seeing them, but actually “seeing” an image they have sent into your mind, they may not be their true form.

It is possible to see these being, and in their true form, but not with the eyes of the physical body. Instead we must use the spiritual sight of the soul. The soul must, of course, be awakened first. A sleeping soul sees little. Continue reading “Invisible Beings of Spirit and Truth”
