Some Quotes on Christmas

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. ~Norman Vincent Peale

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree. ~Roy L. Smith

I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. ~Charles Dickens

One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don’t clean it up too quickly. ~Andy Rooney

Christmas is a necessity. There has to be at least one day of the year to remind us that we’re here for something else besides ourselves. ~Eric Sevareid

Instead of being a time of unusual behavior, Christmas is perhaps the only time in the year when people can obey their natural impulses and express their true sentiments without feeling self-conscious and, perhaps, foolish. Christmas, in short, is about the only chance a man has to be himself. ~Francis C. Farley

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love! ~Hamilton Wright Mabie

Achieving Higher Stages of Consciousness

Stages of Consciousness

“In the first form of contemplation, self has been striving to know better its own natural plane of existence. It has stretched out the feelers of its intuitive love into the general stream of duration of which it is a part. Breaking down the fences of personality, merging itself in a larger consciousness, it has learned to know the world of becoming from within—as a citizen, a member of the great society of life, not merely as a spectator. But the more deeply and completely you become immersed in and aware of this life, the greater the extension of your consciousness; the more insistent will rumors and intimations of a higher plane … begin to besiege you. … Now you reach out towards the ultimate sentence and melody. Which exists independent of your own constructive efforts.” ~Evelyn Underhill

I’m not sure everyone goes through these two stages of contemplation, or seeking enlightenment, but many do. The first stage, if it isn’t clear from the quote, is becoming fully aware of the physical world around you. The second, which many are led to simply through the first, is the discovery and study of higher realms beyond matter, higher levels of consciousness than our earthbound level.

The first stage begins when one stops seeing himself as the center of a private universe and everything else as circling around him: the way babies see things. When we start to realize that the rose exists not just to appeal to our eyes and our sense of smell, but for its own purpose that has nothing to do with us, we have started achieving this level of awareness. When we start to recognize that other living beings, even those of completely different species, have just as much right to be here and just as much right to live as we do, we have achieve this first level of contemplative consciousness. But as we get deeper into this, we start to see, or at least sense in some way, that there is something else, something beyond the physical, beyond the material. That is when we start on the second form. Continue reading “Achieving Higher Stages of Consciousness”

The Supreme Spirit and the Soul

The Supreme Spirit and the Soul

“The soul knows what I know not. It sees into hidden places and understands deep mysteries. Let me know its nature better, that it may instruct me in wisdom. My soul swells with gratitude towards the Bounteous Being, who causes all things to be, which fulfill all desires. My God is not graven in marble or stone. He is not shaped in wood or cast in copper. He has neither offering nor ministrations. My God is a god of quiet places and silences. He is found where the wild winds blow and the gay flowers blossom, away from the habitations of men. He is not worshiped in temples, and His praises are not sunk by the unthinking multitude. … He has no painted shrine, no building fashioned by man could contain Him. Hail to the Supreme Power and Spirit!” ~The Kolbrin Bible (SCL:21:9)

The Kolbrin Bible does contain some odd things, but also some beautiful ones as in the quote above. It does require some spiritual knowledge and understanding to make sense of it, though. So lets break it down.

The soul certainly knows many things that the physical body and the brain/mind does not and cannot. No matter how long you study, how many degree you get, the brain cannot actually understand anything beyond the world of matter. It can accept that spiritual realms exist, it can except that life from such as Angels and Beings of Light dwell in those realms, but not much more than that. Only the soul, which is like a mind for the spirit, can truly understand the spiritual because it is spirit, it is one with God. Unfortunately, it only knows, grows, and learns these great truths if it is awakened. Once it has awakened, and gained the great knowledge and wisdom called Gnosis, it can indeed instruct you in wisdom and understanding. And the soul is certainly grateful to God for all that He is and all that He does. Continue reading “The Supreme Spirit and the Soul”

polarity and balance

The Law of Polarity and Overcoming It

Aspects of Polarity and Balance

“It is impossible to consider the Law of Polarity without considering the Law of Attraction of the center and the attraction of the circumference, because polarity has its basis in these two laws. … The attraction towards the center gives the negative, and the attraction towards the circumference the positive aspect, and it is those two in polarity that produce the circulation of force. You see the prototype of which this is the correspondence, in the positive and negative aspects of the Cosmic Rays. … Polarity according to the horizontal account is horizontal – two of a kind, opposite in type. Polarity according to the esoteric concept is vertical and has its clue is correspondence. … This will teach you that a force which is positive upon one plane will be negative upon the plane above; whether you are considering the emanations of the Zodiac or the levels of consciousness this is equally true.” ~Dion Fortune

While some try to deny it, it is obvious to most of us that we live on a plane of duality where virtually everything has an opposite: hot and cold, male and female, light and dark, white and black, etc. I think the reason some try to deny this is the idea that we are saying good and evil are both equal and necessary, but we are not. We are saying that both exist, but not because it is necessary or because God wants it that way, but rather because the warped, mutated world of matter created by the fallen angels has all forces split into two in order for them to function.

I have never looked at it as some things moving toward the center (however you define that), and others moving toward the circumference ore perimeter, but that seems reasonable. One of the theories of modern science is that there really are no opposite forces, but merely forces moving in opposite directions. Some even say that antimatter is really just matter that moves in the opposite direction. This is what Ms. Fortune s saying when she says its “clue is correspondence”.
