Only a few days left for congress to pass an increase in the debt limit and still no deal. Did anyone not expect this to happen?

So far, this has been an unexpectedly mild season for hurricanes which is not what the experts predicted so does that mean they were wrong or are we just going to get a lot of hurricanes in August and September?

Amy Winehouse: another young celebrity chewed up and spat out by the system. And the enablers and yes men that get rich by sucking their blood just keep on going and going and none of them ever take, or are forced to take, any responsibility for any of it.

“Understanding unity helps to solve humanity’s biggest challenges. There is no such thing as an isolated problem. By injuring any part of the world’s system, you injure yourself. There is no such thing as a win/lose situation. Think of life on this planet in terms of systems and not detached elements. Broaden your field of vision and assimilate the knowledge you have. See that the environment does not belong to any single country to exploit and then disregard. You cannot afford to think of your relationship with the earth as a one-night stand. There’s no such thing as a free glass of milk. It’s time to buy the cow” ~Za Rinpoche

Scripture: The Hidden Words of Baha’u’llah 36

The wise are they that speak not unless they obtain a hearing, even as the cup-bearer, who proffereth not his cup till he findeth a seeker, and the lover who crieth not out from the depths of his heart until he gazeth upon the beauty of his beloved.

If a teacher has no students willing to listen to his lessons, then it it pointless for him to speak so one of the first duties of the teacher is to find good students. Likewise, the student who is ready to learn, but can’t find a teacher who can teach him, cannot learn much. Fortunately, the Being of Light work to help bring the two together.

Healing Herbs: Neroli Oil

Neroli is a herb that is mostly used for stress and anxiety. It is used  in the form of an oil which is often mixed with other oils or creams. The oil is produced using water distillation or steam extraction from the flower buds of the bitter orange tree. It has a very sweet, feminine scent that is so popular, it is used as a primary ingredient in more than twelve percent of all perfumes. It is also used to treat exhaustion. It calms fears and helps control panic disorders. It aids those who tend to worry a lot. It helps with insomnia and mood swings. It was recommended to grieving widows to help them control their grief. Neroli relieves muscle spasms and calms heart palpitations. It rejuvenates the skin and helps to prevent scarring and stretch marks. A few drops of neroli in the bath will help fight insomnia, headaches, anxiety, stomach upsets and diarrhea. It has been rumored to be one of the ingredients in the secret recipe for Coca-Cola. It is often used in aromatherapy and massage to sooth and relax. It is also used to improve circulation. Rub a few drops of the oil on the affected area to get rid of acne. It helps relieve menstrual cramps. Neroli oil is said to help prevent colds if used during cold season. Neroli can increase your appetite when you find yourself unable to eat properly for some reason. It can also prevent bacterial infections and treat fungal infections. Neroli aids in reducing high blood pressure and hemorrhoids.

Cautions: Because Neroli oil is a tranquilizer, do not use it when you need to be alert.  Also, because of it’s strong feminine scent, guys should not use it when they are planning to go out in public.

A Messiah Complex

One of the dangers of spiritual development is called a “Messiah Complex”. This is when the student is so impressed with his own spiritual or psychic development that he thinks he has become a living saint, an avatar, a messiah. The funny thing is, this often happens to those who have the least claim to such lofty titles, but their ego tells them different.

When a student develops a messiah complex, he will often decide, after only a limited amount of instruction, that he somehow mysteriously passed the teachers and masters and now knows more than they do. They will usually leave the school thinking it has nothing more to teach them, and start one of their own or start writing books on a subject for which there knowledge is very much the tip of the iceberg. A good example of this is Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who became famous as the spiritual guru of the Beatles. He became world famous with his teaching Transcendental Meditation, a simple meditation technique taught to beginning students that, while it has some benefits, is not, by itself, a path to enlightenment.

This may be even more true of students of psychic classes. They may think that because they can guess cards better than the instructor, or move objects with their mind better, that they are better suited to be the teacher. This isn’t anymore true than the examples of the spiritual student.

So how does one avoid the trap of the Messiah Complex? It’s usually not that difficult. First, learn to control your ego and not the other way around. Second, listen to your teacher. If the teacher is a good one, she will know when you have a state of enlightenment greater than her own and will either recommend a more advanced teacher for you, or send you off to start your own school. If the teacher doesn’t seem to think you have exceeded the schools ability to teach you, the teacher is nearly always right, so listen to the teacher, not your ego. Jesus spent something like seventeen years studying under the spiritual masters in Judaea, Egypt, and possibly other places, before He was ready to go out and teach on his own, so don’t let your ego convince you that you can do it after only a year or two of studying the basics.
