Hello From Greece #2

We are now doing the six-day bus tour of Classic Greece. We spent the first night at Nafplion, a very nice resort town on the Aegean sea. In Athens, we visited the Academy of Plato which is not one of the usual tourist destinations, but one we wanted to go to. There isn’t much there, just some stones about a foot high showing where buildings used to be, but it was great to walk where Plato and other great philosophers taught. We also visited the Acropolis of Athens and the Parthenon. They were preparing for a performance of the opera Aeda so they had stage decorations of ancient Egypt in front of the real ruins of classical Greece creating an interesting contrast. On the second day, we left at 8:30 after breakfast at the hotel We stopped for a break in Megopolis, then on to Olympus. In Olympus, we went through the museum first, then walked thought the ruins of the area where the ancient Olympics was held and the athletes trained. After the tour, we went to Hotel Europa where we stayed for the night. It was a very nice hotel with a large pool and a poolside bar so we had a little party by the pool before a late dinner.
Today we drove to Delphi and toured the museum then checked into the Hotel for the night.  Delphi is way up in the mountains so the view is spectacular.  No photos this time because I have a very slow connection.

Classical Bus Tour Day 3

Breakfast at the hotel, then leave for Delphi with additional short stos at Patras, Rion, New Bridge to Antirion, Nafpaktos, Itea and Galaxidi. We stay overnight at the hotel Acropole at Delphi. Delphi is best known for the ancient oracle where the priestess (Pythia) was asked questions and gave advice. Many ruins are in Delphi also.

The Oracle

The oracle stands tall and straight
White robes glowing like a dove in the morning sun.
Her dark eyes seem to say:
“Be careful what you ask; a foolish question
Will get a foolish answer.”

But they ask them anyway, the mighty
And the rich:
“Will I win the war?”
“Will I have a child?”
“Will my business have success?”

And the oracle answers their foolish questions
Honestly, but cryptically.
And the fools leave satisfied,
Interpreting the oracle as they wish, believing
What they want to believe, which is usually
Not the truth.

Gems and Crystals: Green Garnet

We are all familiar with the red shades of garnet, but green is another  color of garnet.   In physical healing, green garnet reduces inflammation so is used for arthritis and other joint problems, boils and  inflamed wounds.  It also helps to detoxify the kidneys and the blood.  Green garnet was a favorite of jewelry maker FabergĂ© who used it in some of his famous eggs.
For emotional healing, green garnet helps us to be open about our feelings and things that are bothering us in a positive way.
The psychic and spiritual uses for green garnet are primarily to protect against evil and dark forces.
