Random Thoughts 1-31-2010

For those who believe the tales about it being dangerous to drive while talking on a cell phone, texting, reading a newspaper, or otherwise distracted, a statistic was released recently that shows that 500,000 accidents have occurred and 6,000 deaths as a result of distracted driving (mostly using a cell phone).

I don’t really understand the objections from some over the cruise lines resuming stops in Haiti.  They think it’s wrong to be sitting on a beach and enjoying yourself while people are still suffering about a hundred miles away.  While I agree that people are sometimes indifferent to the  suffering of others, it shouldn’t matter whether it’s one hundred miles,
500 or 1000 miles, yet no one seems to be objecting to cruise ships going to the port of Samana, Dominican republic which is the same island,
but a different country, so it’s OK.  The ships going to the private beach at
Labadee, Haiti are bringing needed money and jobs to Haiti and also
carrying needed supplies.
(I labelled the two ports on this map so you can see what I mean)

There are some interesting new stories on the Cosolargy blog.

Also, some great new photos on Roger Weld’s Flickr page.

I’m not sure how president Obama is “creating jobs” when his cuts in government spending are causing government contractors to lay off thousands.

Living is not this tawdry, mediocre, disciplined thing which we call our existence. Living is something entirely different; it is abundantly rich, timelessly changing, and as long as we don’t understand that eternal movement, our lives are bound to have very little meaning.”

Scripture: Matthew 3:1-2

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Many think that the disciples of Jesus thought that the Kingdom of Heaven was some event that would happen in the near future, in their life time.  If so, they misunderstood what Jesus, John the Baptist and the other prophets were saying.  When John said, “the kingdom of heaven is at hand”, it doesn’t mean it’s coming soon, it means it’s nearby, not far away.  Heaven, also known as the Spiritual Worlds, or the Worlds of Light, is here now and always has been.  We simply have to attune ourselfs to this other dimension in a manner similar to changing the channel on a TV or radio.  Those who do so can experience what it is like to be a Being of Light and part of God’s Plan.

Some Quotes on the Spiritual Sun

The sun is active, and yet it’s powers of fecundity depend upon it’s divine Spiritual Sun, which encircles it.” ~Isha Schwaller de Lubicz

The divine Spiritual Sun is ‘The Cause of causes’ which is manifest in the activity of the solar star.” ~Isha Schwaller de Lubicz

“O Thou Who givest sustenance to the universe, From Whom all things proceed, To Whom all things return, Unveil to me the face of the true Spiritual Sun Hidden by a disc of golden Light That I may know the Truth And do my whole duty As I journey to Thy sacred feet” ~The Gayatri

The Spiritual Light which is hidden within the sun is the most excellent light. It is shining through the hearts of all living creatures in the form of consciousness.” ~the Yajnavalkya-Samhita in Gayatri

“In the Ageless Wisdom our Solar System is known as the embodiment of a Second Ray Solar Logos of Love-Wisdom. Thus, the Life-giving essence is recognized as a perpetual flow, a ray or stream of essential love-a constant, ever-present permeation of all planes and states of planetary consciousness.” ~uncredited, from the web site www.aquaac.org (the previous two quotes were also found on that site)

But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” ~Malachi (Old Testament prophet)

Saying Goodbye

A popular TV commercial for insurance informs us that breaking up a relationship is hard to do so they will do it for you by telling your old insurance company that you have switched.
We all have difficulty saying goodbye to the past, at least the parts of it that we enjoy.  As we develop spiritually, our past friends and habits often need to change along with us changing.  Some of our friend from the past simply don’t fit in with our new life.  Some of our old habits such as poor nutrition, partying the night away, etc need to change also.  Some of this happens automatically, but sometimes, we are reluctant to let go.  We try to cling to those habits and friends that are no longer relevant to where we are now and, by doing so, we limit our ability to grow.  For a while, this is acceptable, but eventually, we need to give up those things that are holding us back or we will not grow.  This doesn’t mean we can never have fun, do silly things, or speak to those old friends, but we need to limit it.  Eventually, we will simply loose the desire for those things and those people and have new desires and new friends.
