The unicorn is one of the best known fantasy creatures but what does it symbolize?  In various religious traditions, the unicorn symbolizes, purity, goodness, protection, femininity, chastity, virtue and strength.  Also innocence, goodwill and healing power.   The unicorn is incorruptible.  Two unicorns are sometimes depicted as guarding the Tree of Life.  The single horn of the unicorn, which is often thought of as a pair or horns that have become united as one, symbolize unity, especially, the joining of matter and spirit,  the joining of man and God, or the joining of the three “persons” of God into one.  The horn of the unicorn is supposed to be able to neutralize poison, especially in water and so can symbolize the power of Christ to destroy or remove sin.
